Mike Kennedy – Founder and President
Dr. Mike Kennedy is a seasoned entrepreneur and research professional with over 10 years of experience leading complex projects and managing cross-functional teams to design and deliver new solutions to environmental and sustainability challenges.
Mike is committed to quality and service excellence with an aptitude for designing and launching new technological implementations, developing high functioning teams, leading strategic and tactical thinking, and generating operational efficiencies in public and private sector organizations.
Mike holds a Senior Fellow/Post Doctoral Fellow position at the University of British Columbia. He holds a BSc. and MSc. in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick and a Ph.D. in Business (Management Information Systems) from the Washington State University.
David Norris – Managing Director
David Norris is an experienced energy management professional with a passion for universal access to clean air, clean water, and clean energy.
David leads day-to-day and long-term operations with the benefit of insight gained through previous roles leading software development and operational execution teams during the company's growth.
David brings a wealth of experience in leadership roles across various non-profit and small business sectors.
David holds a general arts degree from the University of Calgary, a diploma in Renewable Energy Technology from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and an Energy Manager in Training designation and active membership from the Association of Energy Engineers.
Kathleen Garand – Energy Integration Specialist
Kathleen is passionate about enhancing awareness and understanding of energy consumption and reducing our global collective carbon footprint.
She is currently working towards her Permaculture Design Certificate and graduated from the Alternative Energy Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where she acted as President of the NAIT Student Energy branch.
Kathleen brings her diverse experience with energy modelling, energy management, and project management to the BuildSense team as well as her critical thinking and holistic view of sustainability.
Ella Slupesky – Product Manager
Ella is dedicated to developing solutions that enable and support environmental awareness and accountability across a variety of sectors.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from UBC, Ella joined the Green Metrics team in 2020 and supports the BuildSense team as a Product Manager.
Her role has extended across supporting campaign rollout and execution, gathering research on EUI Benchmarking within the Agricultural sector, and initiating virtual client support and client management.
James Ritchie – Business Analyst
Driven by curiosity and a love of nature, James is passionate about learning new things and building solutions that address environmental issues and social problems.
After earning a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction from the University of Alberta, he has spent the last 10 years developing enterprise level software across a variety of sectors. Joining the Green Metrics team in 2020, his industry experience translating business needs and ideas into working solutions has been critical in guiding both the development and design teams in the successful delivery of the BuildSense platform.
Kevin Horrocks – Senior Developer
Kevin Horrocks is a results driven senior development lead with a wide range of experience in developing web based and analytical solutions for academic, business, and enterprise clients. Kevin’s work primarily focuses on the design, strategy, development, and oversight of numerous big data and analytic intensive web platforms.
He has published academic research in automated extraction and processing of geographic, temporal, and thematic analysis through fusion of a variety of sources. Kevin aims to ensure access to reliable and impactful outputs to inform and improve the policy development and environmental advancements of our future.
